Simple Tarot Deck-orations!

Deck The Halls With…Tarot Cards And Holly Fa-La-La-La-La

We love tarot decks and the therapeutic ritual of choosing one each day to best represent our questions and reflections for reading. They’re unique, and full of personality, but have you ever thought about using them as deck-orations to really bring some energy and light to the long nights of December?

We are going to take you through a festive tutorial on how to show them off in pride of place on your Christmas tree… don’t worry! Your cards will remain intact to go back to the safety of their boxes afterwards! No hole punches or staples, please!

What you will need.

  • Choose a tarot deck you don’t mind being without while it is serving a decorative purpose!
  • Paper clips
  • String or ribbon
  • Scissors (not to cut little fingers or cards… take care)

You can choose your cards however you like. Maybe you’d like to show a long reading that explores the month of December. Maybe a few cards are singing to your soul the most, or you might just have some all-time favourites!

Some Ideas if you’re stuck.

The Star – The star often takes the top spot on our Christmas tree!

The Moon – It’s time to appreciate the longer nights, and that we are more reliant on the moon to bring some light

The Sun – We are missing the sun now, but at the end of Yule we will be welcoming warm light back when it’s reborn on the winter equinox

You could even interview your deck first to make sure you’re picking a selection that works for you!

How to make your Deck-orations…

Once you have assembled your equipment, popped on your favourite festive tunes, and have gotten comfortable, it’s time to make some deck-orations!

Step 1 – Lay out your chosen cards and carefully slide one paper clip onto the top of each card. Be extra gentle so that you don’t scratch any cards with the paperclips.

Step 2 – Cut lengths of string or ribbon, making sure its long enough to tie, then pass it through a paperclip and tie the ends together so that you have one big loop.

Step 3 – Once all you cards are ready, it’s time to decorate your tree and enjoy the atmosphere… Oh, and don’t forget to take a snap of your crafting and tag us on Instagram! We can’t wait to see your creations!

Once the 12 days of Christmas have passed, be sure to take down your cards and carefully remove the paperclip and return the cards to their cosy deck box. You can also keep the ribbon-adorned clips in an old jam jar or small box for next year. As well as looking beautiful, using tarot cards instead of buying Christmas ornaments is a greener way to decorate your home!
